Lattice Studio

Geometry is not merely shape. It decides which loads a structure can carry by stretching and which it can only carry by bending, how much surface it has, and how far one missing node reaches.

Lattice Studio builds six lattice families in a fixed envelope, lets material be taken out of them on purpose, and measures what the result becomes — two geometries side by side, at the same density, in the same material.

Topology before stiffness

Some of what a lattice can do is decided before any material is chosen. A node needs six bonds for a frame to be rigid at all and twelve to carry every load by stretching; cubic has six, diamond four, octet twelve. The studio reports this exactly, because it depends only on which bonds exist.

Absence, on purpose

Vacancies are placed by pattern — random, graded, radial, along field lines, on Chladni-inspired nodal lines — or one at a time by hand, and the count always matches the density asked for. The same seed always removes the same units.

ESTIMATE

Measured, and labelled as measured

Density and surface area are estimates: struts as plain cylinders, surfaces by stereology on random test lines. They are good to a percent or two and say so. Nothing here is a mechanical, wave or field simulation yet; those tabs exist and state plainly that they are planned.
